All according to a quirky girl! The other day, a friend of mine mentioned that I always seem happy and motivated. She asked me if I was really that happy in reality. Truth be told, I'm not always in a constant state joy, but I have discovered that maintaining an overall positive outlook on life makes for more happiness and less negativity. I strongly believe that one's attitude is directly related to the level of happiness and satisfaction they feel on a regular basis. I decided to write this blog post based on the simple things I do in my own life to stay happy.

10. Feed your imagination. In other words, channel your inner child. Children are innately creative, curious and happy. Think about your days in the sandbox or your fingerpaint masterpieces. The best way for me to find inspiration is to think back to my childhood when creativity was second nature. I search for pictures of fairy tales, watch cartoons on netflix, grab some crayons to color and go outside to play with my dog for a little while. I think that all of my favorite people have a childlike quality about them.

09. Focus inward. You are the one person in the world who knows exactly what you need. Your body intuitively knows what you require and all it takes is for you to stop and listen. You are only at your best when you are meeting all of your basic needs and taking care of yourself. Do all of those little things you know are good for you. Get enough sleep at night, drink plenty of water throughout the day, and take some time to think or meditate. Focus on both your physical and mental needs.

08. Eat healthily and often. I know this sounds quite simple, but you would be surprised how often people in my life go without eating. Drudging through your day with low blood sugar is a terrible, awful, and horrible way to live life. What we put into our bodies fuels us, and we desperately need that fuel in order to be at our best. A lot of my hangups about food started to disappear when I began thinking about food as fuel for my body. I don't think there needs to be an extreme diet in place with stern restrictions in order for one to be healthy. I believe that a healthy diet is one of moderation.

07. Vitamin regimen. I have taken a  massive vitamin regimen ever since I was diagnosed with my auto-immune disease. I strongly believe in the importance of a vitamin regimen. The benefits of taking vitamin-supplements are vast. I have more energy, clear skin, long and thick hair, and less problems with my blood sugar.  Some people argue that supplements are not necessary if one receives all of the vitamins they require in their diet. My dietician explained that most people don't eat a balanced diet every day, and their bodies suffer because of it. A lot of the foods out there are packed with chemicals and lack the vitamins that we all need. Taking a vitamin regimen guarantees that you will always give your body what it needs the most.

06. Keep unhealthy habits out of your life. One of my close friends recently quit smoking. I've never been one to judge, and I kept my opinions about smoking to myself because I would never want to make anyone feel bad. But when she decided to quit, I was really proud of her because she wanted to get rid of an unhealthy habit and be more healthy for herself. We all have unhealthy habits that we would be better off without. I have the worst habit of snoozing about a million times in the morning. I decided to get rid of that habit just a few weeks ago, and it really has made a difference in my mornings. Nasty little habits only inhibit us and make our lives more difficult.

05. Make the people in your life feel important. This is probably the most important for me. I feel that the people in our lives make us who we are, and we need to take the time to make them feel important. I have always been a gift-giver. I absolutely love going shopping to pick up a few little gifts for my friends or baking a big batch of cupcakes for my family. I write little cards to all my friends once a month and mail them out via snail-mail.  It's the small gestures of love that mean the most. When you make the people in your life feel important, they become your support system. I absolutely cannot live without my family and friends. They make my life happy.

04. Change something when things aren't working. It's a simple concept which works wonders when you fall into a funk. Sometimes all you needs is a change of pace. If you are struggling for inspiration, rearrange your furniture or replace your wall art with new images. If you get stuck in the middle of something, go somewhere different. I often grab my laptop and take off to a local park or cafe when I'm feeling a lull in my creativity. It works like a charm.

03. Live in the present moment. Most of the people in my life have tomorrow in mind at all times. They are constantly thinking about their next move, worrying about the future, and making plans accordingly. While this type of thinking is absolutely wonderful, it is also very limiting at times. It's great to have tomorrow in mind, but you must also take the time to appreciate what you have right now.  I feel that worrying about tomorrow is a big waste of energy and can often distract you from the present moment. I strive to live in the present moment and enjoy every day for what it is.

02. Stay organized. On my worst days, I'm digging through a big pile of clothes for my outfit, rummaging around my desk for my books, and fishing through my bag for my phone. I absolutely hate being unorganized. When your mother told you to set out your clothes for the next day and pack your bag the night before, she really did know what she was talking about. Being unorganized can become stressful and frustrating. I am happiest when things are organized, clean, and clutter-free. I also think that everyone needs some type of organizer or planner. I have a time.mine planner myself (although I'm considering a switch to a Moleskine or Filofax).

  9. Very useful thoughts .. i will start executing them now.. :)
But you know.. being an educated and earning girl I expect to have independence to do such things for myself.. but it becomes a pain.. when your spouse refuses to give it to you.
Its like , when you try to give up your stress..someone is pointing you and telling you, you cant have pet for yourself, you should not go out alone, you should not wear this, you should not do this and that.. How much happy you can stay is really depends on how the people surrounding you are.. You own their negativity.
I was a highly optimistic person before marriage, but I am no more with all these conditions. I will love to hear any suggetions from you. Thanks ..
