Photo Explosion: Travel Diary of A Quirky GirlSaturday, April 23, 2011
Hello Lovely! I'm so glad to be home! I've been out of town for most of this week with my boyfriend, Zeth. He's a graduate English student at my university, and he was presenting one of his papers at the American Culture Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas. So, of course I went along for support ( and shopping)! We had an absolute blast together!
We left town on Wednesday morning and drove to San Antonio while listening to our favorite oldies on Pandora. After we checked into our fancy hotel room, we freshened up & headed over the conference to scope things out. Zeth presented his paper that evening, and I attended his panel to hear his reading. He presented on contemporary masculinity as present in (500) Days of Summer. He was BRILLIANT, Lovelies! Oh, my scholarly boyfriend is a dreamboat!
We met up with some of our friends and had a late dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe on the San Antonio riverwalk. We spent the entirety of Thursday driving around the city, eating lots of food, and shopping at the malls. It was exhausting but lots of fun. We ended the day on the outdoor terrace of the hotel with big slices of cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory. We came home yesterday and slept for the entire afternoon. We were starving when we woke up, so we went out to eat and met up with some friends at this retro daiquiri bar.
Needless to say, my pets were not thrilled when I got home. Apollo wouldn't come out from under the bed until I offered him some treats, and George had a panic attack when I went to the restroom and he couldn't find me. I guess that means they love me.
Zeth is going on a 14 day trip to France in two weeks, and I'm leaving for my month long study abroad trip on the 19th of May. We realized that we are going to be apart for almost 7 weeks. Ugg...I know that doesn't seem like a long time, but we've never been apart for more than a week since we started dating. So that is going to be an interesting experience.
I'm getting really excited about my study abroad trip to the United Kingdom & France in May. I wasn't a blogger last time I studied abroad, so I plan to blog A LOT while I'm traveling. Expect lots of image-heavy posts soon!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
